12 Movies of Christmas: #12 Elf
There are certain movies I have to watch each Christmas season. They're tradition. They each have something timeless about them that deserves homage once per year. So kind of like like the 12 Days of Christmas, I've decided to have the 12 Movies of Christmas. You just decided when you want to see them.
First up, Elf!! I have to admit this is probably my favorite Christmas movie, because it so darn funny. If you're in the Christmas doldrums, don't have the holiday spirit, or you want to amp up your already cherry mood, then Elf has to be on you list of Christmas Movies.
Most everyone knows this movie by now...a 6'3" elf named Buddy leaves the North Pole to search for his biological father, James Caan who lives in Manhattan. But if you have not put it on your Christmas movie list, then you're missing out. This movie has some of the best lines ever:
"First we'll make snow angels for two hours, and then we'll go ice skating, and then we'll eat a whole roll of Tollhouse cookie dough as fast as we can, and then we'll snuggle."
"It's just like Santa's Workshop! Except it smells like mushrooms...and everyone looks like they want to hurt me..."
Leon the Snowman: Why the long face, Buddy?
Buddy: It seems I'm not an elf.
Leon the Snowman: Of course you're not an elf. You're six-foot-three and had a beard since you were fifteen.
Gather the family & watch Elf (or watch it by yourself if you have too). Don't forget to quote the one liners all Christmas season like we do here at Casa Walczak, it's our camaraderie of dorkdome!
